There are times in this age when Corban Dowler must hastily extract missionary families and Christian workers from danger zones before death steals them from their righteous work. For these operations, Corban has developed commando-style teams using non-lethal weapons. These covert multiethnic teams are ex-military, or ex-CIA, and all believers in Christ.
Satan is every bit the adversary as he operates through his demonic workers of iniquity. They are set on claiming the lives of the righteous that stand for Truth. While COIL is working tirelessly to rescue Christians in need, Satan's followers are placing roadblocks, destroying, and kidnapping believers in Christ to thwart the efforts of COIL. The operatives find themselves prey to the very wickedness they are committed to fight, and a battle between good and evil emerges.

D.I. Telbat is a new author for me and I just love his style. This book Dark Liaison is a book I will cherish and reread. I will read any of D.I.'s other books, because he's that great of an author.This story is my favorite kind. It talks about the persecuted church and is a suspense/secret agent type of book. I couldn't put this book down and I so look forward to book two in the series.
The characters are highly developed and very likable or unlikable. I didn't know how Dark Liaison was going to end and I love that in a book. I also loved all of the different disguises that Corban used. He is quite an intriguing character.
Corban was once a spy and thought nothing of killing the enemy but now he is a Christian and can't kill anymore. So Corban and a band of other individuals form a group that gets Christians and Missionaries out of harm from religious persecution. They are many times in dangerous situations, but never do any of them kill or harm another human. It is so interesting the many ways they do this.
I really can't say enough for all of the wonderful parts of this book. If you never read any other book this year, you need to read Dark Liaison. It is such a fantastic book, full of excitement and adventure. I highly recommend this book and wish I could give it more than 5 stars.

Dark Liaison by D.I. Telbat
I enjoyed Dark Liaison, a Christian suspense novel with an unusual premise. The hero is Corban, an ex-CIA agent, who has used his contacts and skills to build an alternative spy agency whose mission is the rescue of suffering saints facing imprisonment, torture, and death in places like North Korea, Guatamala, and China. Satan's forces, led by Abaddon and his the creepily evil minions are ramping up their attacks on Christians in a last ditch effort to thwart God's kingdom before Christ's return to Earth.
But as a Christian, Corban and his agents refuse to kill in the line of duty, even those who are actively trying to kill them, relying instead on creative, non-lethal methods to overpower the bad guys. Luigi, an assassin hired to kill Corban, is left scratching his head when Corban "adopts" him instead of killing him. Of course, this anti-violence philosophy increases the risks of each rescue mission, but Corban's team operates on faith, knowing their lives are in God's hands.
I loved the concept of this novel and the military techno-lingo and mission details that made the story every bit as exciting as a traditional spy story. Telbat brings home the real life danger and suspense that Christians around the world face daily as they try to live their faith. I will definitely be thinking and praying more after having read Dark Liaison.
There were some flaws in this debut novel--a little too much explaining and not enough action at times, a few areas in which my disbelief was not suspended well enough. But I look forward to reading the next book in the series, sure that the writer will continue to improve his considerable skill.

Dark Liaison ( The COIL Series) by D.I. Telbat is a Christian suspense novel that takes readers all over the world. From the US to Rome, Russia, Germany and any other country where missionaries are being persecuted. Corban Dowler who at one time was a CIA agent and throught nothing about killing a person out right is now the head of COIL (Commission Of International Laborers) Once Corban accepted Christ he no longer kills but renders harmless attributes to be able to rescue Christian servants worldwide, help them get a new identity and place them elsewhere to continue their work for Christ. With his many disguises, Corban travels worldwide and is targeted by many. Not only assassins but also agents in the CIA. Entering in some of the most dangerous environments, Corban has an excellent team that even though they were all trained ex military commando's they were all Christians. Like Corban the team uses no lethal weapons to accomplish their mission. As the days are getting closer to the times mentioned in Daniel and Revelation, Christians are being persecuted more and more and Corban and his team are there to help defend them.
This is a very interesting book that I found very hard to put down. The author shows us as Christians just how strong Satan and his workers are in the world. Many Christians out in the field today are being persecuted for converting the lost and others to Christianity. Even transporting Bibles to these foreign countries can land them in prison or even death. The only problem I seemed to have while reading the book was who were the good guys and who were the ones out to destroy Corban and COIL their mission, who to trust and who not to. But they all managed to come together at the end especially Luigi Putelli who I had a hard time trusting .I found the characters easy to connect with and even the secondary characters lead greatly to the plot. The plot was very engaging and will keep the reader on their toes to see what will happen to this team next. I would recommend this book to everyone. The author writes with compassions as to what is happening in our world today if one would just stop and open their eyes. You can see it all around us. As the author states at the end of the book

I will patiently wait for Book 2 of The Coil Series, Dark Hearted due out in 2012, with two more to follow. It's always great to keep up with a series.
